Federal government has been advised to invest more in livestock farming to reduce over dependence on white collar jobs.
The Director, faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria Professor Junaidu Kabir gave the advice during a public lecture by veterinary students association held in Zaria.
Professor Kabir explained that veterinary knowledge is one of the areas that would improve socio economic status of both the rural and the urban communities.
The Director said, “If the government budgeted more on livestock it will give room to utilize our abundant natural resources in the nation.
He pointed out that despite the numerous challenges faced by the agriculture sector, life stock farming was still growing across the nation.

Professor, Alumi Bello commended the efforts of veterinary students association for organizing the public lectures.
Professor Bello charged veterinary students to stand up and study hard to face global challenges.
Also the chairman, veterinary students association ABU chapter Sulaiman Sabiu Garba said is a tradition of the association to organize the annual public lectures to bring experienced veterinary professionals to impact knowledge, techniques and mentor the students.
Sabiu said this year lectures were organized in honor of the pioneer Professor from the faculty, late Professor Idris Abdulkadir.
