The newly appointed Commissioners in Kebbi State have on Friday taken oath of office two weeks after they were screened and confirmed by the State House of Assembly
The Acting Chief Judge, Justice Umar Abubakar administered the oath to the 26 appointees at the Presidential Lodge Banquet Hall in Birnin Kebbi as instructed by Governor Nasir Idris
Shortly afterwards the Governor charged the Commissioners to use the oath of office as their guiding principle while discharging their duties in order to bring meaningful development to the state
“It is my desire to take Kebbi State to an enviable level of development in Nigeria so that we can compete favourably with other industrially, commercially and educationally developed states in the country”.
“This is because we are blessed with the resources and the brains to achieve the goal” Gov Idris explained.
He said, “My Administration will not hesitate to sack any Commissioner that is found not willing to abide by the oath of office and lagging behind in the collective efforts to move the state forward and replace him with a patriotic individual”.
“I will not tolerate laziness and incompetence”. Added Governor Idris.
In his remarks after taking oath of office,the Commissioner of Financial, Abubakar Muhammad Birnin Kebbi who spoke on behalf of the appointees assured the Governor of justifying the confidence reposed in them by providing maximum support for the success of his administration.
Governor Idris had expanded the Ministries to accommodate the appointees from the existing 17 to 26 before assuming offices.
Twenty four of the commissioners are males, while two were females.
