Kebbi to revive mining activities for development of its people

Kebbi State Government has stepped up practical measures aimed at harnessing the statewide solid mineral deposits for the overall development of its people through local and international mining business.

Governor Nasir Idris made this known while inspecting some mining sites at Birnin Yauri and Warah in Ngaski Local Government area of the state.

Idris said, ” The newly created Ministry for Solid Minerals Development is my Government’s deliberate measure aimed at promoting mining business in the State”.

“Through this effort, our teeming youth would have source of employment, an improved economy as well as purchasing power”.

“In spite of Government’s efforts at providing enabling environment for mining business, let me stress the need for the miners, community leaders as well as members of the public to be security conscious and always report suspicious persons around them to any law enforcement agents for the prompt protection of their lives and property ” Governor Idris stressed

Conducting the Governor round the areas, the Chairman, Ngaski Local Government, Abdullahi Buhari Warrah said that mining activities had been going on in the areas for a very long time but had received little or no support in the past for diversification and modernization.

The chairman however expressed delight that the new administration of Governor Nasir Idris was ready to revive and formalise the business in the areas which in turn would improve the Internationally Generated Revenue of the State.
