Residents of Zaria and it’s environs in Kaduna state have decried the lingering hardship being faced in the country as a result of fuel price increase.
Our correspondent in Zaria reported that most residents interviewed expressed disgust that they could not afford three square meals in a day following high price of food items.
The residents stressed the need for the Federal Government to open food reserves to control prices of food stuffs in the markets.
A retired public servant, Malam Adamu Hassan was of the opinion that the three tiers of government needed to introduce policies and measures that could alleviate the suffering of citizens.
Malam Adamu Hassan advised the communities to look for some petty trading and menial job for them to become self reliant.
A civil servant Malam Sunusi Buniya Sharehu advised political office holders to fear Allah and find lasting solution to the series of difficulties experienced by Nigerians.
An Islamic cleric, Sheikh Muhammad Kabir Ashikawee called on well to do individuals to use their wealth to assist the less privileged in the society.
Investigation has shown that most households especially those that are not salary earners have turned street begging as an alternative to feed their families.
