Zamfara police confirm abduction of Fulani women but not sure whether they are bandits wives

The Zamfara state police command has confirmed the abduction of Fulani women by the community in Birnin Magaji local government area of Zamfara state but have yet to confirm whether they were wives of the bandits.

Analyzer news has gathered that, the people of Birnin Magaji town, the headquarters of Birnin Magaji local government area of the state have abducted two Fulani women including a pregnant woman in retaliation for the recent abduction of their kinsmen by the bandits.

Speaking to Analyzer news on the issue, the spokesperson of the Zamfara state police command ASP Yazid Abubakar said, the command has received a report that, some women were abducted by the Birnin Magaji community but was not sure whether the women were the wives of the bandits.

He said, “The command is quite aware that some Fulani women were abducted in Birnin Magaji town”.

“What we don’t know is that, are the women really the wives of the bandits”.

“We are investigating the issue and will issue a statement regarding this”.

Meanwhile, an impeccable source from the community who wanted to remain anonymous for security reasons told Analyzer news that, the community have since released the women following an orders from the above.

He said, “We have released the women because of the directive we received from above and I don’t want to tell you who authorized us to release them”.

“We are now waiting for the release of our people abducted by the bandits”.

Meanwhile, the commissioner of Housing and Urban Development, Alhaji Kabiru Moyi explained that, the state government has no hand in the release of the abducted Fulani women.

He said, “Let me categorically explain to the general public that, Zamfara state government did not order for the release of the Fulani women abducted by the Birnin Magaji community”.

“The Governor did not order for their release and was not aware that they were released”.
