Association of Senior Civil Servants elects new exco in Kebbi

The Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN), Kebbi State chapter, on Thursday elected new executive members to run the affairs of the association in the next four years.

The association’s branch had on Wednesday, elected its own executive members who emerged through consensus during the 4th Quadrennial Delegates Conference held at the state secretariat, Gwadangwaji in Birnin Kebbi.

The new executive members of the state chapter, who also emerged through consensus, took oath of office on Thursday which was administered by a lawyer from the State Ministry of Justice, Hajiya Anisa Abubakar-Udu.

The new officers for the state chapter include; Hafsat AbdulHamid-Jamo as Chairperson, Mudi Dahiru-Muhammad, first Vice Chairman, Mrs Shafa’atu Muhammad-Kanya, Treasurer, Aliyu Abubakar, Internal Auditor and Alhassan Adamu, ex-officio member.

While the new exco for the branch are; Atiku Alkali as Chairman; Aliyu Gadanga, first Vice Chairman; Tani Joy-Sunday, second Vice Chairman; AbdurRahman Fakai, Treasurer; Zainab Jabbo, Legal Adviser and Aliyu Isa, Auditor alongside other ex-officio members.

Shortly after the formal inauguration, the association’s National President, Dr Tommy Etim-Okon, lauded the members for exhibiting high sense of decorum, understanding and resolve for the collective good of the association.

The president, who was represented by Malam Dalladi Aliyu-Dabai, former Branch Chairman in Kebbi State,said: “To have held a conference of this magnitude consistently for more than a decade says a lot about our resilience, institutional capacity and commitment of our members.

“Today is a day for speaking to delegates to clearly and openly choose a new set of leaders that will play a vital role towads the strenthening and consolidating on the efforts of their predecessors in Kebbi,” he said.

Mr Joshua Apebo the association’s National Secretary General, highlighted some achievements of its achievements, including successful negotiations on wage review for civil servants in the country, formulation of policy direction for enhancement and improving the condition of service for civil servants.

The association also sponsored members to international workshops in South Africa and UAE.

Apebo, represented by Bello Garba-Magan, Sokoto State Secretary of the association, urged the members to be faithful, loyal, committed and redouble their efforts to the service of the union, to consolidate its position as the only union fighting for the interest of senior civil servants at the Joint Public Service Negotiation Council.

The new chairman of the state chapter, Alhaji Atiku Alkali, solicited support and cooperation from members, to take the association to next level of development.

Alkali promised to discharge his duties diligently to facilitate rapid growth and development of the association.

The inauguration of the two sets of excos which was conducted separately, ended up peacefully, devoid of rancour or breach of peace.
