From El-Yakub Dabai, Birnin Kebbi

The Chairman of the Kebbi State Chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Comrade Murtala Usman says the President has shown little or no concern to the hardships the common man is going through in the country when he introduced only temporary measures to the problems.

The Labour leader stated this while fielding questions from newsmen in Birnin Kebbi, stressing that the nonchalant attitude the President showed to hyperinflation with no visible solution put in place pushed the organized labour to embark on the proposed nationwide strike.

Comrade Usman noted that the proposed salary increments for workers set aside for six months only affected civil servants pointing out that a permanent means of cushioning the effects of hyperinflation on the rural dwellers must come to stay because democratic governance was about care for the majority.

The Chairman stated that the Organized Labour was the only veritable pressure group that had been checking the exigencies of Governments against the masses in Nigeria and therefore called on the citizens to always support their struggle for a better society

On measures taken to cushion the effect of fuel subsidy removal in the State, Comrade Usman said Governor Nasir Idris would soon procure vehicles from Inoson Motors with a view to using them for interstate and intrastate commuting at low cost while contract for the purchase of associated grains for distribution to the public had long been awarded
