Negotiation: Gov Lawal maintains his stand, says no compromise

Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara state said he still maintained his stand on non negotiation with bandits, explaining that there is no compromise as far as his government is concerned. 

The Governor who paid a visit to the Federal University Gusau on Wednesday said he was away to America when the female students of the institution were kidnapped.

He expressed disgust over the incident and assured that his government was making frantic efforts to secure their release.

“I was away to America when the students were kidnapped and I was really shocked on hearing this”.

“It is unfortunate incident that took place and I am sure every meaning Nigerian will not be happy with what happened”.

“As responsible government we are doing everything possible to make sure that this type of incident does not occur again”.

“There is no compromise on our resolve to effectively fight banditry until total security is returned to our state”.

Also speaking the vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Muazu Abubakar said, there were 12 girls currently in captivity.

Abubakar further explained that eight students were rescued while the other eight have escaped.
