Zamfara police rescue two abducted Gusau varsity students

Zamfara state police command has rescued the two students of the Federal University Gusau abducted by bandits on Saturday night.

In a press statement, the spokesperson of the command ASP Yazid Abubakar said the students were rescued unhurt after exchange of heavy gunfire between the bandits and security personnel.

Abubakar said, on 14 th October, 2023 at about 2000hrs a group of armed men suspected to be bandit armed with dangerous weapons invaded the students’ rented house located at the outskirts area of Sabon garin Damba at gun point abducted two students and one Staff of federal University Gusau.

He said, “On receipt of the information, the striking force of the Command mobilized on search and rescue operations which yielded a very good and positive result”.

“The victims were rescued unhurt, operations is still on with the view of arresting the fleeting abductors”.

Abubakar further stated that the Commissioner of Police Mohammed Shehu reassured all people of the state that the command would do its best in protecting lives and properties and also provide conducive atmosphere for learning process in the state.

The commissioner also urged the good people of the state to furnish the command with credible and timely information on the activities of criminals so as to salvage the state from all forms of criminality.
