Governor Nasir Idris of kebbi state has on Saturday flagged off the construction and rehabilitation of Yauri township roads awarded at the cost of over N3.8b to a Chinese Firm Zhounghou Nig Limited recently.
The Governor, while performing the ceremony in Yauri said the award of the contract was borne out of his determination to develop all sections of the State.
He stressed that every citizen deserved to reep the dividends of democracy and urged the people in the area to maintain the support they have been giving his government
He said ” My government is always concerned about the joy of its people. We know that Yauri people are commuting with difficulties because of the bad township roads and I am sure we are on track to end that very soon. The development will not only ease vehicular traffic but it would as well improve socioeconomic activities of the area”
Governor Idris reiterated that the affected roads were Local Government-Dawanau Junction, Market Roun about-Tashar Garkuwa, Garkar Dudu- Liberia Junction and Police Station-Union Bank and to be completed in eighteen months
In his remarks, the Emir of Yauri, Dr Zayyanu Abdullahi expressed unconfined happiness to the Governor for solving one of the teething problems the area was facing for several years in spite of requests to previous administrations to look into their plights without success
“You made the promise during electioneering campaign and you have now fulfilled it, you are a leader with charisma, good vision and who has the interest of the masses at heart. You have shown us a sense of belonging and honour and as such I am pledging total loyalty of my people to your administration” The monarch remarked
Speaking earlier, the Commissioner for Works and Transport, Engineer Abdullahi Umar Faruk assured the people of Yauri Emirate that the company handling the project was equal to the task and would carry out quality work according to specifications.
The commissioner stressed that the ministry would not disappoint the present administration under his watch.
