Kebbi info commissioner visits Haske FM Radio Gwandu

The Kebbi state Commissioner of Information and Culture Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed BK  undertook a working visit to the Haske Community FM radio station in Gwandu, headquarters of Gwandu Local government in Kebbi state.

The visit according to the Media aide to the commissioner Lukman Hassan was to identify with and encourage the management to persevere despite unfavorable broadcast conditions.

Received by the General Manager of the station Malam Bashar Abdullahi backed by other staff members, the Commissioner was full of praises for the young men and women who have braved glaring odds and challenges to keep the station on air.

He said he decided to be the first Commissioner of Information to visit the station since its establishment in 2014 in order to underline the importance of broadcast communication especially at the community level in educating, entertaining and mounding societal behavior as well as in empowering the people to be alive to their civic responsibilities.

He promised to do all it takes to assist the station to continue to fight those challenges to remain on air by assistance in critical areas of their operations.

The General Manager Malam Bashar had, while conducting the Commissioner round the departments, remarked that the station has become the rallying point of listeners around the local government and beyond.

He added that it was heard as far as Tambuwal in Sokoto state and some other neighboring local government areas in Kebbi state .

He called on the Kebbi state government for patronage in placement of advertisements in order to help the station grow.

He also emphasized the importance of community radio in a state like Kebbi where radio listenership is relatively high.

He said the government, the communities, businesses and commerce can leverage on this to also reach out to target audiences.
