FG equips military with modern facilities to tackle insecurity— Matawalle

In its efforts to end banditry and Boko Haram activities, the Federal government has concluded arrangements to provide the military with modern equipment to enable them face the criminals with ease.

Addressing journalists in his hometown Maradun, the Minister said, the federal government has already directed the Defence Industry Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) Kaduna to commence production of modern military equipment and hardware.

He said that, the industry would undergo total transformation to meet international standard, adding that, “President Bola Tinubu has just signed a bill to that effect”.

Matawalle further explained that, when fully operational as directed by President, it would manufacture all the equipment needed by the military in terms of weaponry and hardware to fight all forms of criminalities in the country.

He added that, he has inspected all the military equipments provided by the Federal Government to security personnel most especially the Army across the country.

Matawalle assured that, with this development, the issue of banditry will soon be a thing of the past.

The Minister maintained that he has visited Turkey where he inspected some of the military equipment ordered from that country to sustain the fight against banditry and other criminalities in the country.

Matawalle added that,  “Some of the equipment have already arrived Nigeria”.

The Minister also explained that, the present administration was determined to provide all necessary working equipment to the military in all the areas that would make their job easier and successful.

He said, “The present administration of President Ahmed Bola Tinubu is poised to ensure that, the military get modern equipment to help them carry out their jobs with utmost ease”.

Matawalle said very soon the defense headquarters would undertake tour of all the theater commands in the country with a view of assessing their needs and requirements for effective operation and service delivery.

He appealed to the security agencies to reciprocate the government’s gesture by strategizing more efforts toward ending the menace of all forms of criminalities.

“Let me use this medium to call on the security agencies to reciprocate the government’s gesture by becoming more alive to their responsibility in the fight against all forms of criminalities”.

Matawalle appealed to the general public to assist them with useful and timely information.

“I am calling on members of the general public to please assist the security personnel with useful information that will help in the fight against banditry and other criminal activities”
