Gwandu Emir’s horse competition kicks off in B/Kebbi

The Horse Racing Federation of Nigeria organized international horse racing competition to mark Emir of Gwandu’s 18th Anniversary has kicked off in Birnin Kebbi, the Kebbi state capital this evening.

The Kebbi state commissioner of information and culture Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed explained that the Emir, Alhaji (General) Muhammad Iliyasu Bashar was celebrating his 18 year on the throne.

According to the commissioner, horses from many countries in Africa were contesting in the horse racing competition.

He said, “Many others from many states in Nigeria are already on ground to compete”.

Ahmed explained that horse racing was one of Birnin Kebbi’s most popular inherited cultural event that drew the most crowd.

He concluded that many prizes such as cars, cash and motorcycles would be given to winners in many categories.
