The Kebbi state Commissioner of Information and Culture Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed BK has told both mainstream and social media practitioners in the county that the present administration of Governor Nasir Idris is working hard to place the state on a trajectory of unparalleled sustainable development and called for support to move the state forward.
Speaking while while on a working visit to the Abuja based The Reporters Magazine – one of Nigeria’s credible news platforms and recognizable oil and gas news outlets, the Commissioner appealed to the media to recognize the fact that Kebbi state has, since creation in 1991, wallowed in an era of infrastructural decay and leadership deficit which made it one of Nigeria’s most underdeveloped states.
He said with the coming of the Nasir idris administration barely six months ago, the state has become one huge construction site beaming with construction activities all over.
“Just name it, we are doing well in the massive construction and rehabilitation of township roads in the state capital and in many other local governments; we are also doing much in economic empowerment of the vulnerable groups; giving out free fertilizer to poor farmers to reduce burden on them; distribution of palliatives worth billions of Naira to our people across the state and paying attention to the health and education sectors in order to set the state on the path of sustainable development and growth.”
Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed BK commended the publishers of the magazine for the support they have been rendering to Kebbi state since the emergence of the present administration.
Responding, the Publisher and CEO of THE REPORTERS magazine Abdullahi Sabiu expressed happiness for the visit and assured the Commissioner of continued support in the area of dissemination of information on the activities of the Kebbi state government.
He also commended Governor Nasir Idris for the achievements he has recorded so far in such a very short time. He said Kebbi state is lucky to have such a leader who has understood the challenges of the state and how to go about solving them. He urged the Governor not to rest on his oars until he liberates the state from the fangs of underdevelopment which has become its hallmarks for too long.
