ZMSG to improve, overhaul owned media agencies

In an effort to create a condusive atmosphere for media practitioners in the state, the Zamfara state Government has concluded to overhaul and improve the welfare of media workers in the state.

Commissioner for Information and Culture, Zamfara state, Comrade Mannir Muazu Haidara Kaura made this known while addressing the staff of the Gold City FM Gusau at the end of his familiarization tour to state owned media house aim at assessing the achievements and challenges facing the agencies for immediate government interventions.

Comrade Haidara who was overwhelmed with the reception accorded to him by the management of the agencies further noted with dismay over the level of decay of some infrastructures in these media agencies.

According to him, the administration of Governor Dauda Lawal being a media friendly with concern and zeal for a conducive working environment and welfare of media workers would soon overhaul them to the taste of time.

” I had gone round, heard and seen your challenges. Let me assure you that His Excellency, Governor Dauda Lawal has a fashion for media and is committed to addressing all the challenges facing these media agencies”. He reiterated.

On the issues of staff training, Comrade Haidara further said the ministry has already designed series of training and retraining programs for senior and junior staff both from ministry and agencies in order to improve their service delivery.

The commissioner further explained that the ministry was pursuing the state government to implement the new hazard allowance for all media workers in the state.

” Training and retraining of our staff is our priority. We have already, arranged for the commencement of phase one training of over 70 staffers on journalism profession in Kaduna ” he stated.

He however used the forum to commend the entire staff and management of the agencies for their commitment and determination to service.

He called on them to continue with the good work, be law abiding citizens and also have the fear of Allah in discharging their responsibilities

Earlier in their separate adrresses the heads of state owned media organisations, Zamfara Radio, Malam Rufai Muhammad Anka, Ahmad Sani Tsafe of Zamfara state Newspaper Company, Adamu Sani Katuru of Government Printing Press Hassana Muhammad Bukkuyim of Censorship Board and Engr Rabiu Bakura of Gold City have commended Comrade Haidara for the historic visits.

He further highlighted some of the achievements recorded and challenges facing the agencies which includes, lack of manpower development, decay of infrastructures and staff welfare.

“With all the challenges facing our agencies, we should ensure that all revenue generated are remitted to the internally Revenue Board” they noted.

While appealing to the state government for the provision of utility vehicles to the agencies, the heads of media houses assured the commissioner of their support and cooperation for him to succeed
