The Federal University Gusau in Zamfara state has matriculated 2865 students for 22/23 academic session, despite the security challenges affecting the institution.
Recall that in 2019/2020, a number of 1453 students were matriculated, while in 20/21 academic session, a total number of 1945 students were matriculated.
This year’s matriculation exercise has witnessed a total number of 2865 students which indicated that despite the security challenges, the number of students is increasing yearly.
In his convocation speech, the Vice Chancellor of the university Professor Muazu Abubakar prayed for the quick release of the abducted students of the institution.
He however commended the security personnel for their untiring efforts in ensuring the release of the abducted students.
Professor Abubakar advised the matriculated students to be extra vigilant and security conscious as they go about their daily activities.
He advised them to always report any suspicious movement of persons or groups to the nearest security agents or the university authorities.
He said, ” I am calling on all the students to be extra vigilant and security conscious as you go about your daily activities”.
“Kindly report any suspicious movement of persons or groups to the nearest security agents or appropriate university authorities”.
“And to our abducted students, I want to assure them that they are always in our hearts and we are always praying for their safety and quick release”.
He thanked all those who have sympathized with the university when the students were abducted.
“I wish to express my sincere gratitude to the following respected dignities who were with us during the difficult times we faced when our dear students were kidnapped”.

“The Kano state government the Sultan of Sokoto, Emir of Tsafe Abubakar Bawa, Sheikh Ahmed Umar kanoma, the Brigadier General one Mechanized Brigade Sokoto, the Director State security Service Zamfara state and many others who commiserated with us directly or indirectly deserve commendation”.
“I also must add that, we have been receiving information of various prayer seasons organized by our well wishers both far and near”.
