Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has on Saturday signed into laws bills establishing Senior Citizens Centre and State University Teaching Hospital, being maiden projects to be carried out by any government since the creation of the state in 1991.

Speaking at the signing ceremony which included other eleven bills in Birnin Kebb, the Governor said the acts establishing the senior citizens centre would endeavour to bring succour to the lives of the elderly after dedicating their productive lives serving humanity while the Teaching Hospital would provide quality health care delivery in the sociey.

Commenting further, the State Chief Executive thanked the Speaker and other members of the legislature for performing a very wonderful job and urged them to maintain the tempo, saying he wóuld implement the acts judiciously in accordance with the dictates contained in the documents.

Governor Idris sought the support of the Kebbi House of Assembly to work tirelessly on areas of revenue generation to compliment federal allocation to the State to enable Government complete ongoing projects and embark on new ones.

In his remarks, the Speaker, Rt Hon.Mohammed Usman Ankwe explained that the bills signed into law encompassed wide range of issues necessary for the development of the state and the wellbeing of the populace as well as provided legal framework for the implementation of policies and programmes of government.

The Speaker informed the governor that the Assembly also reappraised the concerns and suggestions of various stakeholders before ratifying the bills aimed at achieving the target objective.

Some of the bills signed into law included the Kebbi State Pilgrims Welfare Agency Bill, the Kebbi State Justice Sector Reform Bill, the Kebbi State Senior Citizens Center (establishment bill 2023), the Kebbi State Investment Promotion Agency Bill and the Kebbi State Teaching Hospital Bill (establishment bill 2023) .

Others were the Kebbi State University of Science and Technology Aliero Bill, the Kebbi State Law Reform Commission Bill, the Kebbi State Administration and Collection of Revenue due to State Government and Local Government Council and relevant administrative Structure Bill and the Kebbi State Social Investment Programmes Agency Bill.
