The Federal government has been urged to use the proceeds from subsidy removal to adequately equip it’s media stations for their effective performance.
Cross sections of listeners of the FRCN kaduna made the appeal while commenting on the problem bedeviling the station.
They however commended the swift intervention of the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris and the DG of the FRCN Mohammed Bulama leading to the resolution of the recent impasse over the disconnection of the station by the kaduna electric distribution company.
They described the action as laudable and a welcome development aimed at enhancing the operation of the station.
One of those who spoke, Mahmud Galadima. commended the swift
restoration of electricity to the station as a step in the right direction.
He appealed to the government to find ways and means of sustainable funding of its media houses in view of their contribution to national development.
Also commenting, Malam Umar Buba Jos who described the station as a veritable source of news said all hands should be on deck to salvage the situation.
According to him, the station has contributed a lot to the socio economic development of the north and the country as a whole.
Recalled that officials of the kaduna electric distribution company have disconnected the station from national grid last Thursday but with the intervention of the minister, the electricity was restored to the station early Saturday morning
