Commercial air transportation has commenced at Sir Ahmadu Bello International Airport, Birnin Kebbi for the first time after the expiration of bilateral agreement between Kebbi State Government and Airline operators in March 2023.
He said Government realised that most of the passengers travelling by air from either Lagos or Abuja to Sokoto were from Kebbi State, as such when they called for Government intervention, the Governor answered their request to buttress further how he cared for the progess of his people.
The Commissioner however disclosed that the agreement between the government and the airline, Ng Eagle Air, was for three months during which in each fight 50 out of the entire seats in the plane would be paid for by government, pointing out that in the event all the seats were booked by passengers, no expences would go to government.
Engineer Farouk said when the volume of passengers outnumber the capacity of the current aircraft, the Administration would engage another airline to provide services to them in order to ensure that the people of the state have course to remember the benevolence of Governor Nasir Idris especially in the area of seamless air transportation.
The Commissioner said the Airline would provide three flights par week, Sundays, Wednesdays and Fridays, while government would keep watch on them to monitor their compliance with the agreement, revealing that if satisfied the administration would sign a permanent agreement with the airline.
