Kebbi state government has applauded the efforts of the Argungu outgrower Expansion Program (AOEP) which was designed specifically by Wacot Rice Mills limited in collaboration with USAID and West Africa Trade and Investment Hub in order to enhance rice production in Nigeria.
The commendation was made by Governor Dr Nasir Idris (Kauran Gwandu) in an address he delivered during the closing ceremony of AOE Program held in Abuja.
The Governor who was represented by his Chief of Staff( CoS), Barrister Attahiru Maccido described the program as a worthy of emulation.
The Governor also thanked the management of Wacot for initiating outgrower Program on rice cultivation which uplifted thousands of the rural dwellers from abject poverty.
Barrister Maccido who spoke on a telephone interview over the development said “His Excellency, Governor Nasir Idris Kauran Gwandu has wanted to be in the program but, has directed me to tender apology for not being at the occasion”.
“The commended Wacot management and other collaborators for initiating the program”.
No fewer than 7,600 small scale farmers in Kebbi State, including women and youth have been supported by Wacot rice Mills Company limited with agric-inputs, improved food security, enhanced agricultural yield, sustainable land management and expanded access to financing.
