Kebbi Gov, Idris up scales Justice Ministry for optimum service delivery

The Kebbi State Commissioner for Justice and Attorney-General, Dr Junaidu Bello Marshal, says Governor Nasir Idris has provided all the modern work tools to the Ministry to enable it discharge its constitutional role diligently.

The Commissioner who was addressing newsmen at a Ministerial Press briefing in Birnin Kebbi further stated that one of the gesture was the employment of additional lawyers to facilitate prosecution of cases in courts, furnishing of the library with modern facilities as well as capacity building of the law officers.

Dr Marshal said the present Government was able to bring to an end the financial litigatios with different clients that resulted into freezing 33 accounts after having secured enough funds to meet the demands of the litigants whose actions initially imparted negatively on the citizens.

He said after renegotiations with the eleven different litigating financial institutions Governor Idris had One billion naira to the Ministry for onward payment to enable the affected state indigenes who were lawyers, doctors, engineers amongst other to collect their witheld SSCE certificates

The Commissioner said the Ministry had however l recorded 853 Criminal cases, Motions, Bail Application and Legal Advice from the inception of the present administration and currently handing 80 Appeal cases pending before the state High Court of Justice as well 70 cases each at the Court of Appeal and Supreme Court respectively.

According to the Commissioner, within the period under review, the Ministry had vetted more than 200 case diaries forwarded for Legal Advice from the relevant Law Enforcement Agencies, out of which few were terminated for want of evidence and mojority were advised to be prosecuted.

Dr. Bello Marshall, equally stated that, the Ministry had initiated the establishment of Justice Reform Team In the state through Sponsorship of an Executive Bill assented to by the state governor with a view to improving justice delivery to all in the state.
