Kaduna govt committed to provision of farming facilities for FG’s food security program

Kaduna state government said it remained committed to providing facilities to achieve the mission of the Federal government’s food security program.

The state commissioner for agriculture, Alhaji Murtala Dabo disclosed this while inspecting wheat farms in Galma cluster Zaria.

Alhaji Dabo explained that Governor Uba Sani’s administration would provide Fadama land and other basic support would improve wheat farming program .

The commissioner pointed out that arrangement has been concluded to distribute sola water pumping machines to irrigation farmers at a subsidized price.

A wheat farmer, Shehu Lawal Dalhatu stressed the need for the Federal government to provide farming equipment at subsidized price rather than giving loans which some farmers always default in repayment.

The Chairperson, Kaduna state wheat farmers association, Halima Iliyasu expressed satisfaction that Women are now into farming, especially wheat farming activities.

The Federal government introduced wheat farming program to reduce over depending on importation of wheat due to its significance in producing food like supergetti , indomie as well as bread among others.
