Security taskforce rescues two women in Kebbi

A combined security task force comprising the army, DSS, police, Civil defence
Corps and vigilantes have rescued two women from kidnappers’ den in Kebbi on Tuesday.

The two victims were successfully rescued by the joint operation of
the security operatives in Maiyama and Suru Local Government Areas of the
State.

The Director in charge of Security, Cabinet Office, Birnin Kebbi, AbdulRahman Usman disclosed this to newsmen at a Press briefing.

He explained that ”On the directives of Governor Nasir
Idris to go after the kidnappers when he received the information about the abduction of the two women, the security services immediately swung into action”.

”The combined team of the security operatives trailed the bandits from Giro
forest to Boma, down to Zugu Liba forest where the two victims were rescued
unhurt ‘.

Usman further explained that when it became apparent to the kidnappers that they could no longer withstand the pressure from the security operatives , they abandoned their victims and escaped.

According to the Director, the two victims were successfully handed over to the Sole Administrator of Maiyama local Government Area, Hon. Adamu Aliyu Liba and have since been reunited with their families.

He expressed immense appreciation to Governor Nasir Idris for his prompt response to the matter which led to the success of the operation.

‘ I must really thank Governor Nasir Idris for his unwavering support to security personnel operating throughout Kebbi state in all sectors of their need, ranging from logistics to welfare,’ he said.
