The lingering crisis within the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara state might tear the party apart, following the suspension of a memeber House of Representatives representing Kaura-namoda-Birnin Magaji Federal Constituency, Hon Sani Jaji.
The party has on Friday announced the suspension of Hon Aminu Sani jaji for anti-party activities as well as trying to factionalize the party.
Addressing journalists at the APC headquarters in Gusau, the secretary of the party, Yusuf Idris said Honourable Jaji has formed the habit of engaging himself in dishonest practices and habitual absenteeism from party meetings or activities.
Idris said, Jaji was suspended by the executive members of the party from Birnin Magaji ward which was later endorsed by the state Exco of the party after some deliberations.
He said , “The notice of confirmation of suspension of Hon Sani Jaji from the party was forwarded to the APC Headquarters, by the APC Executive Committee of Birnin Magaji Local Government”.
”The suspension of Sani Jaji emanated from an initial notice of resolution of suspension by the APC Executive Committee of Birnin Magaji Ward”.
“The State Executive Committee of the party held an emergency meeting at the Party’s Secretariat on Friday morning where Hon Jaji’s suspension matter was tabled to the members”.
He stressed that during the meeting, a report of an already constituted state fact-finding committee on anti party activities established in the aftermath of the 2023 Zamfara State Governorship election was presented to the committee for deliberations by members.
He concluded that, “Hon. Aminu Sani’s direct involvement in anti-party activities called for his immediate suspension from the party pending the review and deliberations by the State Disciplinary Committee and subsequent ratification by the State Executive Committee”.
It could be recalled that, the state’s party chairman, Honourable Tukur Danfulani Maikatako was also suspended three days ago by APC executive council members of Galadima Ward Gusau but the suspension was later cancelled where the party publicity secretary Yusuf Idris said it was a grand plan by some politicians trying to destabilize the party in order to float new party ahead of 2027 general elections.
While Idris accused some politicians of destabilizing the APC ahead of 2027 elections, other people in the state have alleged that Honourable Sani Jaji might be looking for a way to defect to the ruling PDP in the state.
When Honourable Jaji commissioned a multi million Naira mosque he built in his hometown Birnin Magaji, he invited Governor Dauda Lawal to the commissioning ceremony.
Governor Lawal not only honoured the invitation but was also physically present at the venue of the event, a situation which was viewed by many people as a political marriage between the Governor and Honourable Sani Jaji.
