Zamfara Dep. Gov. visits flood affected communities, urges for calm

The Zamfara State Deputy Governor, Malam Mani Mummuni on Tuesday visited communities affected by recent flood disaster in Gummi Local Government Area of Zamfara.

The deputy governor who led the state government’s delegation visited by the deputy governor were Gummi, Gayari and Falale towns.

The government delegation had earlier paid symphathy visit to emir of Gummi Justice Lawal Hassan.

Malam Mummuni expressed shock over the incidence, describing it as worrisome.

He pledged state government commitment to assist the victims.

“This is very unfortunate the this disaster displaced our people rendering them home less.

“I am here to sympathise with people of Gummi emirate over this incident.

“I was mandated by Gov Dauda Lawal to come here to see the level of damages caused by the disaster”, he said.

“I am going to report to the governor all what we have seen.

“I am assuring you that very soon the governor himself will come to sympathise you”, he added.

The deputy governor appealed to the victims to remain calm and consider the disaster as a test from God.

Receiving the delegation, the emir of Gummi, Lawal Hassan commended the state for the visit.

He said people of the area are in serious need of urgent assistance from government at all levels.

The traditional ruler urged Zamfara government to build earth dam in the area in order reduce overflow of water to the residents areas.

The Sole Administrator of Gummi Local Government Area, Aminu Nuhu led government’s delegation to the affected communities.
