I decided to write this piece on Senator Ibrahim Lamido, the senator representing Sokoto East after reading series of write-ups related to him. The unfortunate write-ups have clearly been crafted to create havoc in the state chapter of APC and rubbish the good works of Governor Ahmed Aliyu.
The claim that there is a crack in the party and purported mass resignations of some traditional leaders from Sabon Birni local government council of the state who were said to have aligned with him were also aimed to ridicule the APC led state government.
Sadly, the Distinguished Senator didn’t refute any of them which proved that , he is in tandem with the write-ups.
First and foremost, I wish to state that I
am a card carrying member of APC who diligently strive to strengthen the party in any way possible.
It is therefore apt for me to express my views on issues affecting our party.
As a newbie politician, Senator Lamido has recorded tremendous success in 2023 general elections which climaxed with his victory as a senator representing Sokoto East.
However, those write-ups are going to destroy his political career because truth always prevails over falsehood.
Many prominent politicians in the party concluded that he is being teleguided by Abuja based politicians in collaboration with the opposition, PDP to destroy APC in the state.
His two co-travellers, Hon. Bello Isah Ambarura and Hon. Sani Yakubu have also shown their ungrateful traits to the party and their political mentor, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko.
Hon. Ambarura has poor political base which resulted in his inability to win local government chairmanship election way back in 1999. Even in 2023, he only made it with Senator Magatakarda's help. The same thing with Hon. Yakubu.
What many believed is that Senator Wamakko is a compassionate and accomodating politician. He is a political leader of refute both within and outside the state. Many politicians owe him debts of gratitude too bulky to be paid at a go.
He has held the party together through his remarkable leadership quality and generosity.
This piece is therefore a cautionary reminder of the responsibility entrusted to Senator Lamido as a representative of the people. While political differences are a natural part of democracy, inciting intra-party squabbles undermines the very fabric of shared goals and interest.
Although his recent actions were aimed to fuel division within the party and jeopardize the ability of the state to effectively address critical issues. He failed to acknowledge that the APC led administration in state under Governor Ahmed Aliyu has done remarkable well. He has rekindled people’s hopes and aspirations in democracy.
The Distinguished Senator should reconsider his approach to issues and prioritize the unity and progress of the party.
Constructive dialogue and collaboration are essential to achieving positive change and stability in party politics.
The Senator ought to engage in respectful discourse, prioritize common ground, and work towards solutions that could strengthen the party if at all there is a crack in it.
