Governor Idris donates N40m to flood victims in Kebbi

Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi state has donated the sum of N40m to the families of the three people who lost their lives as well as those who lost their properties or sustained various degrees of injuries in the last flooding in Dakingari, Suru Local Government Area of the State.


While on a condolences visit to the victims and families of the deceased the Chief Executive instructed that out of the sum N500, 000 should particularly be given each to the families mourning their dead ones.

” To this end I am directing the Local Government Chairman to set up a committee to impartially distribute the money to the affected victims stressing that State Government would put in place a monitoring mechanism that will ensure compliance with the directives.” Governor Idris explained.

He then commented on the menace of the flood by saying ” My Government is deeply touched by the havoc the flood caused to the residents of Dakingari and the surrounding settlements”.

“We will not rest on our oars until we find a lasting solution to the teething problem in order to safeguard your lives and property”.


In his remarks, Suru Local Government Council Chairman, Muhammad Lawal Suru said over three thousand houses business buildings were destroyed during the floodings while scores of people sustained several injuries and assured to comply with the Governor’s directives.


Also speaking, the District Head of Dakingari Jafar Haliru expressed joy with the quick intervention of the governor and his determination to put an end to their lingering plight which had been a painful annual occurrence
