Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris has received four auspicious awards from Nigeria for Women Project, a World Bank Women Intervention Project.
Receiving the awards at Government House in Birnin Kebbi, Governor Idris expressed delight over the awards and promised to support any donour agency determined to bring development to the state.
According to the governor, the project has promoted the wellbeing of women and orphans, saying: “I will sustain the MOU between the State and the Project into another stage”
“For now, I know it is only three Local Government Areas of Maiyama, Arugungu and Ngaski that are benefitting from the intervention that targeted 54, 000 women but In Sha Allah other LGAs would also be engaged.” The Governor stressed
Responding, the National Project Coordinator, Nigeria for Women Project, Mrs Ruth Peter Mshrlia appreciated the Governor for sustaining the project that had already transferred the lives of women especially in the rural areas
The four awards from the World Bank presented to the Governor included; first state to complete individual livelihood grant disbursement, the most innovative project coordinating unit, best collaborative partnership and rising star.
