Governor Nasiru Idris of kebbi state has condoled his counterpart of Borno state, Babagana Umara Zulum over the death of his Commissioner of Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Engineer Ibrahim Idris Garba.

The Commissioner was reported to have died in his sleep last Friday night.

A statement of condolence signed by the Kebbi state Commissioner of Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed Birnin Kebbi, conveyed the prayers of Governor Nasir Idris over the unfortunate loss of the Borno state Commissioner and prayed for the repose of his soul.

The statement added that Governor has recalled the recent demise of three notable elders of Borno state – all of them within a week.

Governor Nasir said, “Although the losses were regrettable, the government and people of Borno state should see them as the wish of the Almighty Allah and the inevitable end of all mortals”.

“The loss of the Commissioner at this critical time when his services are needed, the Governor remarked, will be very painful more so when his expertise and patriotism have began to manifest in the few weeks that he had been at the helm of efforts to bring more succor to persons displaced by insurgency and banditry”.

Dr. Nasir Idris urged his friend and brother Professor Babagana Umara Zulum to be comforted by the achievements recorded by the late Commissioner in his short brief, as well as the realization that the journey to freedom from all vestiges of criminalities and needless bloodshed has just began and must be won.

He added that the oxygen which fed insurgency and banditry and kept them alive in every part of the country where they now incubate and thrive must be totally checked and dealt with in order to make the country safe and habitable for our people to live in peace and prosperity.

The statement concluded that, “The Government and people of Kebbi state identify and share in the grief of the Government and people of Borno state in their hour of these irresponsible losses and sorrow”.
