About thirteen displaced communities as result of persistant banditry attacks in some Southern parts of Kebbi State have so far returned home following the return of relative peace in the area.
Confirming the development to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi, the Danko-Wasagu Local Government Chairman, Hussaini Aliyu Bena said, “All the villagers who were sent out from their respective houses in the last three years were from my local government”
Most happily, they have been coming back home, a lot have been resettled and continued with their normal businesses.”
The Chairman expressed delight over the regained freedom of his people, while applauding the security agencies for their tireless gallant efforts especially by continuously patrolling the area day and night aimed at ensuring that the bandits were handed a difficult task of survival.
Bena said the current peace where communities were able to sleep with closed eyes, resumed farming activities.
He said, “These people can now freely begin commercial activities because Bena Market, a hub to business fanfare in the country has been reopened for trade and commerce”.
The Chairman listed the 13 communities that returned home to include; Sawade village, Bakin Gulunbi, Bakin Gulunbi Mai Kwanu, Malekachi, Sakawa, Sabongida, Kauran mai Zanma, Luga, Angela Kibiya, Angela Dado, Tsirinda, Kasama and Ma’ako.
He thanked Governor Nasir Idris for the immense support he had been giving to security agencies in the state.
The chairman stressed that the gesture was responsible for the return of peace in southern parts of the state
