The Kebbi state Commissioner of Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed has informed the newly sworn in district heads that their loyalty to the state government must be non negotiable.
The commissioner who was advising the newly sworn in district heads on Thursday stated that, if they wanted their subjects to respect and be loyal to them, they must also be very loyal to the government.
Ahmed said, “Mine is to give you a peace of advice to enable you succeeded”.
“Make sure that your loyalty to the state government should be non negotiable”.
“It is important that, you are loyal to the government because it is that loyalty that will earn you loyalty to your subjects. It is as simple as that”.
“If you are loyal to the government, it is natural that your people will be loyal to you”.
The commissioner also urged the new district heads to be just and fair in the discharge of their duties.
“Try to be just and fair to the people you come in contact with or those who have come in contact with you”.
Ahmed reminded the new district heads that they were closest to the people from the grassroots, as such, there was the need for them to try as much as they could to enlighten their people on the activities of the state government under the able leadership of Governor Nasir Idris.
He said, “Your job is very easy as you are all aware that, democratic government is said to be the closest form of government to the people”.
“There is a chain in this and you are occupying a very sensitive part of the chain”.
“You hold the trust of the people as you are closer to them. Government gets across to the people through you”.
“So I want to believe that you all understand that your roles are very important in relating between the people and the government by ensuring that there is stability and peace in the communities where you operate”.
“I will like to advise you that this government as I stated earlier is the government of the people, for the people and by the people as stated many times by the Governor himself and he has already demonstrated that”.
The commissioner stressed that Governor Idris has started very well right from the day he was sworn in, calling on the traditional rulers and the entire people of the state to continue supporting and praying for him to move the state forward.
He said, “The the Governor has hit the ground well from day one”.
“You can see the facts that Kebbi state has become a hub for construction activities. Wherever you go, you will see that work is ongoing”.
“Already, we were in Yauri today and very soon we will be in the other Emirates with a number of projects that are very dear to the people as well as the government”.
The commissioner explained that, kebbi state has recorded tremendous achievements in just few months of Governor Idris administration, adding that, with the support and prayers from the people of the state, many dividend of democracy would be seen in the near future.
He said, “One thing about Kebbi state that I want to talk about is that, we knew where we were yesterday in terms of infrastructural development, we know where we are today and we have an insight of where we will be tomorrow insha Allahu”.
“The Governor has started very well. All over the country, there is no state where work is ongoing as much as it is here in Kebbi state”.
“So that tells us that, the Governor because he was born, bread and buttered here in Birnin Kebbi coupled with the nature of his job and the positions he held, he is in a better position to know the problems of the people”.
The commissioner therefore called on the new district heads to use their positions to assist the Governor in building new kebbi state.
“So it is important that at your level, you try to enlighten your people on the differences we are having today compared to where we were yesterday and let your people know that the Governor is doing all he could to bring about development”.
“For the first time, you can see dividend of democracy with your own eyes .
“You should support the Governor in order to encourage him continue with what he is doing for the benefit of the people”.
Secondly, you should be just and fair in the discharge of your duties”.
“If you do these things, you have made your job easier”. Concluded the commissioner.
