Sokoto state commissioner of finance, Alhaji Jabbi Shagari has sponsored 50 girls to study NCE and degree programmes at National Teachers Institute Shagari Centre under the Girl-child education.
The Commissioner who disclosed this said the decision was part of his desire to promote Girl Child Education upto Tertiary level.
He further said another set of 25 students were also sponsored to further their education at various tertiary Institutions.
According to him, 10 of the students would pursue engineering courses, while 15 others to study other courses.
He urged the students to concentrate very seriously in the studies to justify the sponsorship.
Shagari reiterated his commitment to more qualified students to further their education, especially the Girl Child.
