The publicity secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Zamfara state chapter, Alhaji Yusuf Idris has described the sacking of CPG commandant by Governor Dauda Lawal’s administration as vindication of APC’s earlier claims that, the formation of the security guards was politically motivated.

In a statement, Idris said, the formation of the Community Protection Guards by Governor Dauda Lawal was politically motivated, adding that it was not done to bring lasting solution to banditry activities in the state.

Idris said, when the CPG was about to be formed, the APC has advised the state government to ensure that the exercise was free from any political motivation and accept the contribution of any well meaning Zamfara citizens no matter their political affiliation.

But the government condemned our advice and now the Commandant has vindicated our earlier assumptions”. Said Idris.

Idris said, “The Zamfara state chapter of the All Progressives Congress has been vindicated by the action of the PDP led administration of Dauda Lawal Dare for Sacking the State Commandant of the State Community Protection Guard, Col. Rabiu Garba Yandoto for telling the world the true situation of the state CPG while speaking on a radio phone-in Programme of Vision FM Gusau”.

“The party previously during the recruitment of the CPG personnel advised the Zamfara State to ensure that the exercise was free from any political motivation and accept the contribution of any well meaning Zamfara citizens which the government condemned and now the Commandant has vindicated our earlier assumptions”.

Idris maintained that suspending the commandant has demonstrated the state government’s attitudinal ways of neglecting good advice in order to stay on the right path.

He said “The government on Wednesday sacked its commandant of the Community Protection Guard for voicing out the neglect the body is facing including an ill fated take off to face the well armed bandits giving innocent citizens sleepless nights in the area”.

“In a radio live phone-in program, the commandant who described many of the foot soldiers as ‘illitrate’ or persons of questionable character who were recruited along political lineage were now facing various serious criminal charges including murder in the hands of conventional security outfits while the command is completely handicapped owing to bottleneck and high-handedness from top government officials”.

“The commandant who revealed that since the inauguration of the squad about four months ago, they have neither been paid nor given funds to run their activities of fighting bandits”.

“He also exposed how local government chairmen are also starved of funds to even run the councils when insecurity is staring them directly in their faces”.

“Immediately after exposing the government’s inadequacies, the commandant was relieved of his duties leaving behind the failure of the government”.

Idris also lamented how the state government suspended some lawmakers and a prominent Islamic cleric for telling the truth.

He said, “The same action was taken by the government against some of the state lawmakers for voicing out the level of insecurity in their respective constituencies with the government directing the speaker to suspend all the lawmakers just for calling on it to take proactive measures against the security challenges facing their people”.

“Similar incident happened to the renowned Islamic scholar and former Chief Imam of Muslim Foundation Jumaat Mosque, Sheikh Tukur Sani Jangebe just for praying for the Success of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Minister of State for Defence just as the Islamic scholar used to pray for the current governor Dauda while Matawalle was governor of the state and nothing was done against him”.

“The government directed thugs to intimidate the Imam with all sort of abuses forcing him to resign and leave the Mosque for peace to reign”.

Unfortunately however, the government which came with mouth watering promises to the electorate especially on ending the ever enduring security threats perpetrated by armed bandits and kidnappers alongside improvement in education, healthcare service delivery and provision of social amenities among other sectors, has perpetually failed in getting the people sigh relief in happiness with the government having met these yearnings”.

Idris lamented that after unsuccessfully trying tooth and nails to bring down the good image built by the immediate past administration led by the APC, the government has now evolved a new way to witch hunt its predecessor through the establishment of a judicial commission of enquiry which intention was to go after all those loyal to the past government particularly with a view of victimizing them and possibly putting them in castration.

“We want to urge the government to concentrate on meeting those campaign promises made especially on security which the state is in dire need of”.

“As a progressive party, we will continue to lend our support to any move that will bring lasting peace in our state and the nation at large”. Concluded Idris.
