The Executive Secretary, Zamfara State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (PHCDA), Dr. Husaini Yakubu Anka has commended the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency (NPHCDA) and US Presidential Malaria Initiative (PMI-S) for a successful completion of a five-day training workshop for health workers in the state despite the security challenges.
The five-day training was organized by the Zamfara State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (PHCDA) in collaboration with the National Healthcare Development Agency (NPHCDA) and the US President Malaria Initiative for States project (US PMI-S).
In a closing remarks at the end of the training, Dr. Anka said, he appreciated the efforts of the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency and the entire partners that are working in the state for organizing the training.
He said, “I am appreciating the efforts of the Federal government through the National Primary Healthcare Board and the entire partners that are working in the state”.
“More importantly the collaboration of the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency (NPHCDA) and the Presidential Malaria Initiative (PMI-S) who took the responsibility of the training”.
“They have done a very wonderful job in ensuring the success of the training”.
Within these five days of training, we have seen the commitment of the participants who are drawn from all sectors of the health personnel such as doctors, laboratory scientists, pharmacists, nurses and other cadre”.
“On our part, we are hoping to start the local government training towards the end of this month”.
Dr. Anka explained that Zamfara state government has concluded arrangements to rehabilitate and equip 704 primary health care facilities, recruit more health workers and build residential quarters for health workers to ease accommodation problems in the state.
One of the facilitators, Ibrahim Abdullahi who is from the the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency (NPHCDA) expressed optimism that the training would enable the participants to train their counterparts at the local government level.
He appealed to the Participants to use the knowledge and skills they have acquired during the training when they returned to their respective localities.
He commended the participants for the dedication and maturity they exhibited during the workshop, concluding that, “The training workshop is 95% success”.
One of the participants, Hudu Hassan who is from Bakura local government area of the state said, he has leant a lot of skills that would enable him to train others at the local government level.
He said, “I am really abreast and refreshed on health issues and I can now teach others at the grassroot level”.
