Mass Wedding: Lawmaker marries off 105 orphans who lost parents to banditry

A Federal lawmaker representing Maru/Bungudu Federal Constituency in Zamfara state, Hon Abdul Malik Zubairu has married off 105 orphans whose parents were killed by bandits.

The grand occasion which took place on Saturday in Bungudu town, the headquarters of Bungudu local government area of Zamfara state was attended by prominent personalities both within and outside the state.

Both the brides and the bride grooms were gorgeously dressed during the event which attracted the attention of thousands of people who graced the occasion.

The married couples were provided with beds and bedding materials by the lawmaker, in addition to N10.5 million paid as dowry for 105 brides.

Honourable Zubairu has also provided the sum of N100,000 for each of the 105 bride grooms and N50,000 to each of the 105 grooms to enable them start business of their choices.

Speaking during the occasion, Hon Zubairu said, he was aware of the hardship being experienced by those whose parents were killed by bandits.

 As such, he decided to assist in marrying off the 105 orphans and the vulnerable children.

He stressed that, he would continue to provide more assistance to the orphans and vulnerable children in the state.

”I decided to marry off these girls considering their economic situation and I promise to continue with the gesture by the grace of Allah”.

“Apart from the beds and bedding materials which I purchased for them, I also paid all their dowries and I have given N100,000 for each of the husbands and N50,000 for each of the the wives”.

The chairman of the occasion, Senator kawu Sumaila representing Kano South senatorial zone commended Hon Zubairu for marrying off the poor girls who have nobody to take care of their marriage as a result of the death of their parents in bandits’ attacks.

Senator Sumaila also donated the sum of N10,000 to each of the 105 couples as an assistance.

He called on well to do individuals to borrow a leaf from the lawmaker.
