Senator representing Zamfara North Senatorial zone, Senator Sahabi Ya’u has distributed agrochemicals worth N300 million free to farmers in his constituency.
The materials included 2,400 bags of 50kg fertilizer, 400 cartoons of spraying fertilizer, 6,000 bags of 25kg treated Maize seedlings, 1,000 bags of 25kg treated Rice seedlings, 80 Cartoons of Herbicides and 1,000 pumping machines.
Four local government areas of the zone consisted of Kaura-namoda, Birnin-Magaji, Shinkafi and Zurmi benefited from the gesture.
Speaking during the occasion in Kaura-Namoda town last Sunday, Senator Ya,u said, the gesture was part of his contribution to his people aimed at improving agricultural productivity in the area.
He stressed that, the agrochemicals he distributed would ensure the sustainable agricultural practices as well as enhancing food security and supporting the livelihood of farmers.
He stressed that although most of the farming areas have been forcefully abandoned by the farmers due to insecurity challenges, the situation would by the grace of God come to an end.
He said, “I am assuring that, efforts are been made by Federal Government to ensure peace is restored in the country to enable farmers return to their farms”.
He urged the people of the state to continue praying for peace to reign in the state in particular and the country in general.
Senator Ya,u called on women and youths in the zone to exercise patience, assuring them that their own welfare packages would soon be distributed to them in due course.
