Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara state has awarded N6.05 billion contract for the construction of 11 kilometer roads linking two local government areas in the state.
Speaking at the flag off ceremony at Kwanar Rawaiya on Thursday, Governor Lawal said, the affected roads included Rawaiya, Madaro and Furfuri.
He stated that, the work would be completed in twelve months duration.
Lawal explained that, the ongoing road projects across the state were evidence of his administration’s dedication to enhancing the transportation system by linking towns and villages with access roads.
He said, the main objective of roads construction is to create conducive atmosphere for socioeconomic activities in the state”.
“Lack of access roads is greatly hindering the social well-being of our rural population who are mostly farmers”.
“We shall try as much as possible to make sure that we provide access roads to our people in the rural areas in order to boost agriculture and other activities”.
“Zamfara state was created along with six other states in 1996 and going by the record, all these states that were created the same day with Zamfara are much more developed than our state”.
“The only area we are far ahead of them is the issue of banditry and other other criminal activities”.
“The flagging off of this this project is a testament to our administration’s commitment to improving our transportation system by connecting our towns and villages with access roads”.
“It aligns with our infrastructural development agenda, which aims to create a conducive environment for businesses to thrive and address our security challenges”.
