Zamfara State Investment and Property Development Company Ltd has recorded remarkable achievements from August to December last year.
Similarly, it has diversified efforts aimed at generating more revenue for the overall development of the state.
Addressing journalists in his office today, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the company, Hon. Anas Hamisu Lawal said it was no longer economically viable to solely depend on the meagre shares of the company.
According to Anas, the shares of the company being owned by the state government was nothing to write home about, lamenting that, the shares were depreciating instead of appreciating.
Anas maintained that, “Based on this we are now looking for other avenues of revenue generation”.
He stated that With the full support and encouragement from Governor Mohammed Bello Matawalle, the company was now able to buy an estate of three-bedroom house of six units in Abuja which would be leased out in this month so as to generate more revenue for the state government”.
He also stated that, the company has also purchased a befitting hotel in Abuja which would serve as revenue generating avenue.
“The first thing you look for when you come to Abuja is an accommodation which speaks volumes. His Excellency has approved for us to purchase the three-bedroom house at the cost of N235 million”.
“The Governor did not stop there. He approved for us, through the Directorate of Investment to buy a very befitting hotel in Abuja at the cost of N1.8 billion”. Said Lawal.
The Managing Director maintained that, when he came on board, the company had no office accommodation which he described as very shameful and diminishing, stressing however that within few days in office, he was able to secure an office accommodation.
“I inherited a collapsed company, I didn’t even know its office when I was appointed because it has no permanent office”.
“But with the help of our Governor this building where we are currently occupying which was called Gidan Rikiji now belongs to the Investment Company”.
Lawal unfolded other ways of revenue generation by the company which would include the purchase of commercial vehicles for Intercity service, purchase of farm products from the farmers to be exported to other countries.
He also stated that, the company would partner with small scale businesses and entrepreneurs in order to boost the economy of the state and also generate more revenue.
