An APC stalwart in Zamfara state, Alhaji Bashir Ataka has affirmed that, the direct primary elections introduced by the National Assembly was a good omen to the country, stressing that it would bring an end to the political crises bedeviling the nation.
Speaking to Analyzer news in Gusau on Friday, Ataka stressed that, the direct primary could bring sanity into the political arena, calling on all Nigerians to support the idea.
“I am calling on all Nigerians, particularly the politicians to support the National Assembly members in their struggle to sanitise the political process through direct primary”.
“I am also appealing to the state Governors not to sabotage the good effort of the Federal Lawmakers just for their selfish agenda”.
Ataka expressed the hope that, the direct Primary would also give chance for the electorate to elect leaders of proven integrity.
“It will also end the politics of good-fatherism which is responsible for snail pace of progress in the country. Said Ataka.
He called on President Muhammadu Buhari to hasten the enactment of the bill into law to allow the nation to progress.
