Barrister Mahdi Aliyu Gusau said he is still the Deputy Governor of Zamfara state, despite his impeachment by the state House of Assembly.

Gusau made the pronouncement in Abuja shortly after he purchased the 2023 Governorship nomination form.

He said, “Iam still the Deputy Governor of Zamfara State elected by the good people of Zamfara”

He condemned the poor leadership of the administration of Governor Bello Mattawale.

He said, “There is need to have leaders with proven integrity who will save the state from total collapse”.

Mahdi who described his impeachment process as a complete drama said he would soon clinch power and reposition the State through improving Security, job creation and welfare

He also promised to overhaul the educational, health and other sectors that are in dilapidated condition.

“My aspiration to become Governor of Zamfara state is to help our people and salvage them from the hands of selfish politicians who value their needs more than that of the Masses”.

Commenting on the issue, the PDP Secretary, Alhaji Faruku Ahmed Shatiman Rijiya said, the party would soon recontrol the state and bring it back to its sound putting.

Shatima maitained that, Zamfara was a PDP state, adding that, “By the grace of God, we are going to reclaim the state”.

He called on the people of the state to exercise more patience, concluding that, things would soon become normal.

On the issue of the elected party members who defected to APC, Shatima stressed that, they were ill advised by some disgruntled politicians who wanted to enrich themselves through deception.

“Those who defected to APC were misled by some hungry politicians who always want to cause confusion for their selfish interest”.
