Ramadan Welfare: Zamfara govt distributes food items, clothes worth N1.8 billion to less privileged

Zamfara state government has distributed food items worth N1.8 billion to the less privileged persons in the state as part of the Ramadan welfare package.

Addressing newsmen in Gusau on Saturday, Governor Bello Mattawale said, the commodities distributed included rice, maize, millet, sugar, cooking oil sugar and clothing materials.

Matawalle said, the state government found it necessary to assist the less privileged in the state during the month of Ramadan considering the hardship being encountered as a result of banditry and COVID 19 pandemic.

“My administration has come up with the donation of the food items and the clothing materials in order to cushion the effect of COVID 19 pandemic and the insecurity challenges facing the generality of the people of the state”.

“I want to draw the attention of those charged with the responsibility of distributing the items to fear God in carrying out their job”.

“I will not hesitate to deal with anybody found diverting the commodities for his selfish interest”.

“I also want to use this opportunity to call on the well to do individuals in the state to also come out and assist the poor people within the society to enable them observe the fast with ease”.

Matawalle also called on the people of the state to pray for peace during the month of the Ramadan fast.
