A Senator Representing Zamfara West Senatorial District, Alhaji Lawal Hassan Dan’iya has commended the national headquarters of the All Progressive Congress (APC) for reconciling the warring factions of the party in Zamfara state and assured his full support to the process.
Dan’iya who was addressing his teeming supporters at Maryam Hall Gusau on Monday told them that, he was ready to give total support to whatever would make APC to win elections both at the state and the national level.
He explained that, he has agreed to surrender his Senatorial position to former Governor Abdul Aziz Yari as requested by Governor Bello Mattawale as part of the reconciliation arrangement for the success of the party.
“When Governor Bello Mattawale told me that, the former Governor, Alhaji Abdul Aziz Yari would take over my position as the senator for Zamfara West and I told him that I have no objection”.
“I know that, this is what God wants to happen and as a Muslim, a accept this arrangement wholeheartedly”.
“I therefore appeal to all my supporters to regard this as an act of God and pray for me to have a better place in future”.
“I want all of you not to relent your effort in giving your support to our great party, the APC.”
Senator Lawal Hassan Dan’iya also promised to continue giving his full support to the party in whatever way possible.
Speaking at the occasion, the Deputy Governor Alhaji Hassan Mohammed Nasiha described Dan’iya as a courageous personality and a man of God who believes in destiny.
The Deputy Governor recalled what happened in 2019 when Hassan Dan’iya left his party the APC when he was a member of the Federal House of Representatives and contested for the Senatorial position.
“I can recall that, in 2019, Lawal Hassan Dan’iya who was a serving member of the Federal House of Representatives defected to our party the PDP and wanted to contest for the same position”.
“Looking at his courage, we asked him to contest for Senatorial seat and he accepted without any argument. He contested and God gave him the position which he is currently holding”.
“And now, with the reconciliation process, Dan’iya was asked to forfeit his Senatorial position to former Governor Abdul Aziz Yari and he accepted without a second thought”.
“He was the first person to accept the reconciliation arrangement and agreed to handover his position to former Governor Yari”.
“I want to on behalf of the Government of Zamfara state assure Senator Lawal Hassan Dan’iya that we are with him and will continue to be with him as long as we are in government”
In his speech, the state APC chairman, Alhaji Tukur Umar Danfulani commended the courage of Hassan Dan’iya for accepting the reconciliation arrangement in good faith.
Danfulani described Dan’iya as a full party loyalist whole contribution to the party could not be overemphasized.
Also speaking, the political Adviser to Senator Lawal Hassan Dan’iya, Alhaji Murtala Jangebe described the three year tenure of Dan’iya as the best thing that ever happened in Zamfara West Senatorial Zone.
He maitained that, Lawal Hassan Dan’iya has contributed immensely to the development of his zone in particular and the state in general.
He stressed that, Lawal Hassan was very loyal to the party, adding that, he was the first to accept the reconciliation process where he happily expressed his willingness to vacate his seat as a Senator to Abdul Aziz Yari.
At the occasion, cars and motorcycles were distributed to Supporters of Senator Lawal Hassan Dan’iya by the Dan’iya Foundation.
