The Senior staff Association of colleges of Education in Nigeria has given Federal government two weeks ultimatum to fulfill its promise or face industrial action.
The National President of the association Comrade Danladi Ali disclosed this while speaking to newsmen at FCE Zaria.
Comrade Danladi Ali Explained that the establishment of demonstration schools in colleges of education is not a matter of choice but a matter of requirements.
He said establishing demonstration schools serves as laboratories to train teachers before proceeding to public schools.
The National President called on government to release the N15 billion revitalization fund to Federal colleges of Education and resumption of stalled renegociation exercise.
He said if the Federal Government did not meet their demands they would be forced to embark on industrial action.
He stressed the need for the Federal Government to call on all stakeholders to a round table meeting to avoid the industrial action.
Also speaking, the chairman Senior Staff College of education in Nigeria FCE Zaria chapter Muhammed Ibrahim said members of the union contributed about eight million naira and issued cheques of one million naira to families of eight deceased members of the union.
The chairman told the deceased family members that the money was an assistance to carter for their needs.
The Provost of the college, Dr Sulaiman Balarabe commended the initiatives of the union for providing funds to assist the families of it’s deceased members.
Dr Balarabe assured the union that the management remained committed to supporting activities of the union towards uplifting their members.
Families of the deceased members expressed happiness over the kind gesture.
