The Federal High Court sitting in Gusau, Zamfara state capital has again adjourned the suit filed by the PDP Governorship candidate, Ibrahim Shehu to July 26 for further hearing.
Shehu was challenging the election of Dauda Lawal Dare as the PDP flag bearer, praying the court to nullify the election and conduct a fresh one.
The Presiding judge, Justice Bappa Aliyu said, the case was adjourned to July 26 in order to give the counsels to the plaintiff an ample time to file their response to the plenary objection raised by the defendants.
Speaking to newsmen immediately after the Court’s session, Counsel to the plaintiff, Barrister Lamidi Abaro said, the case was adjourned to July 26 because for mention.
Abaro said, “The matter was supposed to be heard today but by the time we got to the court, the first and third defendants have filed a plenary objection which was served to us”.
“The fourth defendant also filed the plenary objection”.
“Now the court has adjourned the sitting for us to file our case response if we want to which we will surely do within five days”.
“So the matter is adjourned to July 26 for the argument of the plenary objection and our response”.
Other defendants in the suit are, the election committee chairman sent to the state, Alhaji Adamu Maina-Waziri and the state’s PDP chairman, Col. Bala Mande (rtd).
The rest are, the state’s PDP flag bearer, Dauda Lawal Dare and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
