Zamfara NLC joins ASUU solidarity strike, vows to shut down Zamfara

The Zamfara state chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has assured its readiness to shut down the state if the Federal government refused to end the over five months ASUU strike within three days.

The Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC Zamfara State council, comrade Sani Haliru stated this while leading  coalition of labour Unions to the Deputy Governor’s office to deliver a letter for the commencement of the strike.

Haliru stressed that following the inability of the Federal government to end the current ASU strike, the insecurity situation in the country was increasing by the day.

His words, “The inability of the Federal government to end the ASU strike is responsible for the prevailing insecurity in the country”.

He lamented that those who have enjoyed free education during their school days were the same people crippling the education  sector in the country.

In his speech at the occasion, the Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU  Federal University, Gusau, Dr. Abdulraman Adamu also said that the increase in the prevailing insecurity situation in the country was as a result of the ASU strike.

Also speaking, the chairman of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Polytechnics, Joseph Yabo  said the association has decided to join the strike in solidarity to ASUU to press home their demands.

Receiving the labour Leaders in his office, the Zamfara State Deputy Governor, Hassan Nasiha has promised to convey their message to the appropriate quarters.

The Deputy Governor told the labour Leaders that he was in support of their struggle.

He however advised the students to continue studying in their various homes until the strike action was brought to qn end.
