From Jibrin Zaria
Some residents in Zaria have called on Kaduna electricity distribution company to come to their aide by restoring power supply in their areas.
Our correspondent in Zaria reports that areas like Gwargwaje , Rimin Danza in Zaria city among others have been in darkness for over three months.
Investigation revealed that in Rimin Danza, the office of KAEDCO has removed the transformer with the intention of repairing it but for more than three months they were yet to return it.
Another source explained that the KEDCO appealed to the residents to raise fund of about eight hundred thousand naira for the repairs of their transformer.
Speaking on anonymity a concerned citizen, stressed the need for KEDCO officials to come to their aid and restore the electricity supply.
Also in Gwargwaje area the chairman Gwargwaje Development Association, ALHAJI Mustafah Jumare explained that they contributed over two million naira for the repairs of their transformer but still there was no power supply.
He pointed out that a new transformer donated by a political office holder was vandalized by hoodlums who took away some valuable cables.
Alhaji Jumare said the residents visited KAEDCO office several times but no any positive response from the officials.
Investigation revealed that when ever the communities and residents witness electrical faults in connection to the transformers or electric fsults, the KAEDCO officials used to direct the residents to raise funds for the repairs and restoration of electricity.
When contacted for comment, the KAEDCO Public Relations Officer at the headquarters in Kaduna said he would find out the reason for persistent power outage and promised to take neccessary steps to rectify the anomaly.
