Governor Bello Matawalle of has assented to the three laws recently passed by the State House of Assembly.
This was contained in a statement by the Press Secretary to the Governor, Alhaji Jamilu Iliyasu Birnin Magaji and made available to Analyzer news on Wednesday.
The laws acccording to Iliyasu included “A law to Provide for the Protection of Children in Zamfara State and for Other Matters Related Thereto, “Persons with Disabilities law and State Social Protection law.”
Speaking at the event.
Governor Bello Matawalle said the document will serve as guiding principles in coordinating all government’s social interventions, ensure proper targeting and exit criteria of eligible beneficiaries that are expected to be mined from the state Social Register.
According to the Governor, the laws provide that, the state social protection and disability funds should be provided and will among other things complement the state government’s efforts in providing more access to children, women, persons with disabilities and other vulnerable groups in all aspects of life.
The Governor commended the leadership and members of the State House of Assembly for their concern to the needs and aspirations of the citizens by passing the three bills into law.
“All the due processes observed are in conformity with our peculiarity to ensure that, all content of the laws do not contravene our Islamic laws,” Governor Matawalle added.
He further appreciated Islamic scholars, partners and women groups who advocated through the first lady, Hajiya Aisha Bello Matawalle for their contributions which according to him became part of what led to the speedy passage of the bills and their subsequent assent for implementation.
The occasion was attended by the State Deputy Governor, Senator Hassan Muhammad Nasiha Jarman Gusau, Speaker of Zamfara state House of Assembly, Rt Honourable Nasiru Muazu Magarya, Zamfara state First lady, Hajiya Aishat Bello Mohammed Matawalle, Secretary to the state Government, Alhaji Kabiru Balarabe, Chief of Staff Government House, Malam Ibrahim Suleiman, Deputy Chief of Staff, Hon Jalaluddeen Maradun, State APC Chairman, Alhaji Tukur Umar Danfulani, Principal officers and members of the State House of Assembly, Honourable Commissioners, Permanent Secretaries and other Senior Government functionaries.
