The chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists Zamfara state council, Comrade Ibrahim Musa Maizare was on Thursday manhandled and beaten up by Political thugs at the premises of the State NUJ secretariat.
The episode happened when the chairman, directed that, the building being illegally erected at the NUJ secretariat by the thugs should he halted until due process was followed.
This did not go down well with the thugs who vehemently told the chairman that no power on earth could stop the erection of the building, asking the chairman to go to hell.
The chairman had wanted to give the thugs further explanation on why the structure should not be erected at the NUJ secretariat.
Before he finished talking, one of the thugs brought out a cane and began to beat him up, telling him to disappear from the place since it was not his father’s property.
The thugs also threatened to kill any journalist who dared to go near them on the issue.
The matter was immediately reported to the police, seeking for their intervention on the issue but no meaningful action was taken at the time of filing in this report
