Zamfara Anti Thuggery arrests six suspected phone snatchers, suppliers of SIM cards, illicit drugs  to bandits

Zamfara state Anti Thuggery Committee has arrested six suspects in connection with snatching of phones and supply of illegal substances and sim cards to bandits.

Addressing Journalists in Gusau, the chairman, Zamfara state Anti Thuggery Standing Committee, Alhaji Bello Bakyasuwa Soja said three out of the suspects were arrested in Gusau during a ceremony where they were involved in snatching of phones belonging to celebrities.

Bakyasuwa said, following a complaint from members of the public in connection with phone-snatching, his men swung into action and moved to the scene where they apprehended three persons.

According to him some phones were recovered from them and would be handed over to their owners after the investigation.

In a related development, Bakyasuwa said, three persons were also apprehended while traveling along Gusau-Magami road at midnight despite the ban on movement of vehicles in the night by the state government.

According to him, when the vehicle was searched, it was carrying illegal substances and 100 SIM cards.

He stressed that, after thorough investigation, it was discovered that, the SIM cards and the illegal substances were going to be delivered to the bandits in the forest.

“We investigated the three arrested persons and discovered that they were going to deliver the materials to bandits”. Said Bakyasuwa.

He warned members of the public to desist from indulging themselves into anything contrary to the law of the state and the country.
