No fewer than 19 people were said to have been killed by terrorists in Riyoji village in Birnin Tsaba district of Zurmi local government area in Zamfara state.
An indigene of the area, Mohammed Lawal told The PUNCH on phone that the terrorists who were on motorcycles went to the village last Wednesday night where they killed 19 people and wounded several others .
Lawal explained that, immediately the terrorists arrived the village around 10 o’clock pm last Wednesday, they began to shoot at those they came across with.
“Immediately they arrived the village, they began to shoot at the people they came across with, killing 19 and wounded several others”.
“Many people were able to escape and ran into the bush for safety”.
He stressed that, the terrorists have also carted away with many valuable items including foodstuffs and animals.
He maitained that many people of the village particularly women and children have fled to other neighboring towns and villages for fear that the terrorists might return.
Lawal called on both the state and the federal Government to come to their aides and deploy security agents to protect them against persistent attacks of the terrorists.
Frantic efforts were made to speak to the spokesperson of the state police command SP Mohammed Shehu but could not be reached on phone.
Similarly, the state information commissioner Ibrahim Dosara did not pick his call and did not respond to a text message sent to him up to the time of filing in this report.
